- 3. Slice the cucumber lengthwise with a peeler. Snap the cap off of the snow peas, remove the strings, place in a heat-resistant dish, put plastic wrap over it, and microwave for 40 seconds at 600 W. Cut diagonally into 4 equal pieces. Remove the seed from the avocado and cut into small cubes. Cut Japanese honeywort into 3 cm wide pieces. Cut crunchy Japanese pickled plum (kari kari ume) like you're peeling apples.
- 4. Wrap the cake mold around with a plastic wrap and place scrambled eggs from Step 2. Place 1/3 of rice over it. Now we will layer the ingredients in the following order; Tuna flakes, 1/3 rice, avocado and the rest of the rice. Cover with plastic wrap and leave for 10 minutes.
- 5. Take 2 pieces of cucumber at a time, shift one of the pieces off from the center and roll them to form a rose. Also roll up the pickled plum peels.
- 6. Take out the sushi cake from the mold onto a plate, shape the salmon into a rose and place the pickled plums around evenly. Place the cucumbers around the cake as well. Using the snow peas and decorate the salmon, pickled plum and cucumber to make it look like rose leaves. Decorate around the cake with salmon roe and Japanese honeywort and it's done!
Tips for cooking
Salmon, tuna flakes and salmon roe has a lot of salt in them, so the seasoning is simple, but you can pour some soy sauce over if you like. Adding more such as plenty of tuna, sea bream and crabs can make it more festive and enjoyable. This recipe uses honey. Please be careful not to let children below the age of 1 (infants) consume them.
