Sweet and Spicy Chicken Heart and Japanese Leek Skewers (Yakitori) - Recipe Video

- Chicken heart150 g
- Japanese leek1
- Salt and pepper mix1/3 tsp
- Sauce
- Cooking sake1 tbsp
- Japanese sweet cooking wine (Mirin)1 tbsp
- Soy sauce1 tbsp
- Sugar2 tsp
- Salad oil1 tsp
How to make
- Prepare. Cut off the blue part and the root of Japanese leek.
- 1. Remove the white part of chicken heart, cut it in lengthwise, rinse off the blood clots with running water, and drain.
- 2. Cut Japanese leek into 0.8-inch wide pieces.
- 3. Pierce bamboo skewer with 1 and 2 alternately and sprinkle salt and pepper mix.
- 4. Put the sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix together.
- 5. Pour cooking oil into a pan. Arrange the ingredients from Step 3, turn the heat to medium, cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.
- 6. Flip it over and cook it for 5 minutes over medium heat. Pour the sauce prepared in Step 4 over it and blend the flavors until the liquid evaporates. When the chicken hearts are cooked through, remove it from the heat.
- 7. Serve it one a plate it and it's done!
Tips for cooking
You can adjust the amount of salt to your liking. By removing the blood clots from the heart, you can prevent it from getting a distinct smell. You can adjust the amount of cayenne pepper powder to your liking.
