Mild Soy Milk Miso Soup with Bacon and Onion - Recipe Video

A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Mild Soy Milk Miso Soup with Bacon and Onion.
The ingredients are similar to Japanese clear soup (consomme soup), but surprisingly it goes well with miso. This is a miso soup recipe where we will be using bacon and onions. The addition of soy milk adds richness and mild flavor, giving it a deep flavor. Please give it a try!

Cook time

10 minutes

Ingredients
2 servings

  • Thin-sliced half sized bacon
    60 g
  • Onion
    50 g
  • Water
    400 ml
  • Plain soymilk
    50 ml
  • Miso
    1 tbsp
  • Japanese style granulated soup stock
    1.5 tsp

How to make

  1. 1. Thin-slice the onion.
  2. 2. Cut thin-sliced half bacon into 0.4-inch wide pieces.
  3. 3. Put water and Japanese style granulated soup stock in a pot over high heat. When it comes to a boil, add the ingredients from Step 1 and 2, turn the heat to medium, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. 4. When the onions become soft, turn the heat down to low, melt in the miso, add soy milk and remove from the heat just before it starts boiling.
  5. 5. Serve in a bowl and it is ready!

Tips for cooking

If you bring it to a boil, the miso will lose its flavor and the soy milk will separate, so please be careful with the strength of heat when cooking.
