- Beef round300 g
- Tomato3
- Onion1
- Mozzarella cheese100 g
- Grated garlic1 tsp
- Sukiyaki Sauce (Warishita)
- Water200 ml
- Cooking sake80 ml
- Soy sauce80 ml
- Sugar3 tbsp
- Olive oil1 tbsp
- Basil5 sheets
How to make
- Prepare. Remove the stem of tomatoes.
- 1. Cut tomatoes in wedges. Cut onion in half, then cut it into 0.4-inch pieces.
- 2. Cut mozzarella cheese into 6 equal pieces.
- 3. Add ingredients for Kanto-style sukiyaki sauce (warishita) in a bowl and mix together.
- 4. Heat olive oil and grated garlic in a pot over medium heat. When it starts to smell fragrant, add Step 1 and stir-fry quickly to coat well with the olive oil.
- 5. Pour Step 3 in a circular motion, cover with a lid, and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- 6. Add beef round and Step 2, and heat over medium heat until the meat is cooked through.
- 7. When the mozzarella cheese is melted, top with basil and it's ready to serve.
Tips for cooking
You can use beef with your favorite parts. You can simmer it to your liking, but if you cook it for too long, the tomatoes will crumble and lose its texture, so please be careful. If you sprinkle black pepper as you like for finishing, it enhances the flavor and becomes delicious.
