- Octopus100 g
- Cabbage100 g
- Red pickled ginger20 g
- Tempura bits20 g
- Batter
- Cake flour (Pastry flour)100 g
- Water100 ml
- Beaten eggs1
- Japanese style granulated soup stock1 tsp
- Salad oil1 tbsp
- Toppings
- Okonomiyaki sauce1 tbsp
- Japanese Mayonnaise1 tbsp
- bonito flakes3 g
- Dried green seaweed flakes (Aonori)as needed
How to make
- 1. Cut off a core of cabbage and shred it. Cut an octopus into bite-size pieces.
- 2. Put dough ingredients into a bowl and mix until the powderiness is gone.
- 3. Add Step 1, red pickled ginger, and tempura bits, and mix lightly.
- 4. Add cooking oil to a heated pan, pour in half of Step 3, and cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Once browned, flip it, cover, and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Cook another slice in the same way.
- 5. Serve on a plate, add toppings, and it's ready.
Tips for cooking
Adjust the amount of salt to your liking. If you like, you can also top it with a pork belly and grill it. We used a pan this time, but you can also make it on an electric griddle.
