Braised Daikon Radish and Konjac Kinpira - Recipe Video

Ingredients 2 servings
- Daikon radish200 g
- Konjac (Konnyaku)140 g
- Salt1 tsp
- Hot water500 ml
- (A)Soy sauce1.5 tbsp
- (A)Japanese sweet cooking wine (Mirin)1 tbsp
- (A)Cooking sake1 tbsp
- (A)Sugar1/2 tbsp
- (A)Japanese style granulated soup stock1 tsp
- Sesame oil1/2 tbsp
- Roasted white sesame seeds1 tbsp
- Cayenne pepper (powder)as needed
How to make
- 1. Peel off the skin of daikon radish and cut into 0.2-inch wide thin strips.
- 2. Cut konjac half horizontally, halve the thickness, and cut into 0.2-inch wide thin strips.
- 3. Add Step 2 and salt in a bowl and rub well with your hands. Put it to the boiling water in a pot, boil for about 1 minute, then drain the water with a strainer.
- 4. Add sesame oil to a pan over medium heat, add Step 1 and Step 3, and stir-fry for about 3 minutes over medium heat until daikon radish is cooked through.
- 5. Add ingredient (A), and stir-fry over medium heat until the seasonings get thickened.
- 6. Add white roasted sesame seeds, and when the taste is overall absorbed, turn off the heat. Transfer to a plate, sprinkle with cayenne pepper (powder), and it's ready to serve.
