Deep-fried Thick Tofu (Atsuage) and Daikon Radish Miso Soup - Recipe Video

A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Deep-fried Thick Tofu (Atsuage) and Daikon Radish Miso Soup.
We made a warm miso soup with deep-fried thick tofu (atsuage), which has the mix texture of tofu and thin fried tofu (abura-age). It is slightly different from the standard ingredients, but of course, it goes really well with miso soup. You can double the nice taste by combining daikon radish which has a different texture. Please try it.

Ingredients

  • Deep-fried thick tofu (Atsuage)
    60 g
  • Hot water
    as needed
  • Daikon radish
    40 g
  • Water
    400 ml
  • Miso
    2 tsp
  • Japanese style granulated soup stock
    1 tsp
  • Young green onion (Konegi)
    as needed

How to make

  1. 1. Place deep-fried thick tofu (atsuage) in a heat-resistance bowl and pour hot water over it to remove the oil. After draining the water, cut and make the thickness into half and cut it into strips.
  2. 2. Peel the skin of daikon radish and cut it into strips.
  3. 3. Add water and Step 2 in a pot, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  4. 4. Add 1 and Japanese style granulated soup stockr and bring to a boil. Dissolve in miso and turn off the heat.
  5. 5. Serve in bowls, sprinkle with young green onion (konegi), and it's ready to eat.

Tips for cooking

By pouring hot water to remove the oil from atsuage, the excess oil is removed and it becomes delicious. Do not boil the miso to keep the nice flavor.
