How to make

  1. Prepare. Remove the stem of cherry tomatoes.
  2. 1. Cut daikon radish into 0.8-inch wide cut into round slices and peel the skin. Make some cross-cutting on one side. Add rice, daikon radish, and enough water in a pot and boil over low heat for about 30 minutes.
  3. 2. Cut deep-fried thick tofu (atsuage) in half diagonally.
  4. 3. Chop Japanese leek, put it in a bowl with the chicken dumpling ingredients, and mix together.
  5. 4. Remove the calyx from okras, sprinkle salt, and roll it on the chopping board to have a better texture, and wash off the salt with running water.
  6. 5. Add the soup ingredients to a pot, add Step 1 or Step 2, and heat over medium heat. When it boils, reduce the heat to low, make Step 3 into a round shape with a spoon and add it to the pot, cover with a lid, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. 6. Add Step 4 and cherry tomatoes, and simmer for about 10 minutes over low heat. When the ingredients are cooked, it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

Daikon radish is boiled together with rice to make it look milkier and taste mild. You can also substitute rice water for rice.
