- Sushi Rice
- Rice200 g
- Crunchy Japanese pickled plum (Kari kari ume)3
- Green shiso leaves2 sheets
- Sushi vinegar1 tbsp
- Roasted white sesame seeds1 tsp
- Salted mackerel1 slice(s)
- Salad oil1 tsp
- Green shiso leaves1 sheets
- Toppings
- Grated ginger1/2 tsp
- Young green onion (Konegi)as needed
How to make
- Prepare. Cut off the stem of green shiso leaves. Remove the seed of crunchy Japanese pickled plums (kari kari ume).
- 1. Coarsely chop crunchy Japanese pickled plum (kari kari ume) and green shiso leaves.
- 2. Cut salted mackerel in half and make 2 small cuts on each side of the skin.
- 3. Add the rice, Step 1, and the rest of sushi rice ingredients to a bowl and mix gently.
- 4. Place cooking oil in a medium heated pan, add Step 2, and cook for about 10 minutes. When both sides are browned and the inside is cooked through, remove from the heat.
- 5. Serve in the order of Step 3, green shiso leaves, and Step 4 on a plate, top with toppings, and it's ready.
