- Thinly sliced pork200 g
- Burdock root50 g
- Wateras needed
- (A)Cooking sake1 tbsp
- (A)Soy sauce1 tbsp
- (A)Honey1 tsp
- (A)Grated ginger1 tsp
- Batter
- Starch60 g
- Beaten eggs1
- Japanese Mayonnaise2 tbsp
- Roasted white sesame seeds2 tbsp
- Frying oilas needed
- Toppings
- Boston lettuce3 sheets
- Lemon2 slice(s)
How to make
- Prepare. Scrape the skin of the burdock root.
- 1. Shave burdock root thinly in a bowl filled with water.
- 2. Add the drained Step 1, thinly sliced pork, and (A) to the bowl, rub, and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
- 3. Mix the batter ingredients in a separate bowl, then add Step 2 and mix together.
- 4. Pour 1-inch depth of frying oil into a pot, heat to 170℃ (340°F), then drop in Step 3 with a large spoon, and deep-fry for about 5 minutes until thinly sliced pork is cooked through and the batter is crisp, then drain the oil.
- 5. Place Step 4 on a plate with the topping ingredients and it's ready to serve. Squeeze lemon to your taste to enjoy.
Tips for cooking
This recipe uses honey. Please be careful not to let children below the age of 1 (infants) consume them. You can substitute honey with sugar, but since the sweetness varies depending on the type, we recommend adjusting the taste to your liking.
