- Pork belly200 g
- Lettuce3 sheets
- Carrot50 g
- Onion1/2
- Wateras needed
- Green shiso leaves1 sheets
- Hot wateras needed
- Iced wateras needed
- Sauce
- Japanese pickled plum paste (Bainiku)1/2 tbsp
- Ponzu sauce3 tbsp
How to make
- 1. Shred carrot, green shiso leaf, and onion, and soak onion in water.
- 2. Tear lettuce into bite-size pieces.
- 3. Cut pork belly into bite-size pieces.
- 4. Boil a pot of water, boil each slice of pork belly from Step 3, soak them in iced water, and chill.
- 5. Place the drained lettuce, carrot and onion on a plate and top pork belly from Step 4 after draining it.
- 6. Sprinkle green shiso leaf on top, top Japanese pickled plum paste (bainiku), pour ponzu sauce and it's ready.
Tips for cooking
Use shabu-shabu meat for pork belly, and add it one by one when boiling because if you put it all together, the meat is thin, so it will stick together. You can also enjoy it with pork loin as well.
