Here's our a little spicy simmered daikon radish and konjac. This is a dish that keeps on eating rice because of the little spicy seasonings that contain chili bean sauce (tobandjan).   • Daikon radish
    250 g
  • Konjac (Konnyaku)
    100 g
  • Hot water
    as needed
  • Ground pork
    100 g
  • Grated garlic
    1/2 tsp
  • Grated ginger
    1/2 tsp
  • (A)Water
    150 ml
  • (A)Cooking sake
    2 tbsp
  • (A)Soy sauce
    2 tbsp
  • (A)Sugar
    1 tbsp
  • (A)Chili bean sauce (Tobandjan)
    1 tsp
  • Sesame oil
    2 tsp
  • Toppings
  • Young green onion (Konegi)
    as needed

How to make

  1. Prepare. Peel daikon radish and set aside.
  2. 1. Cut daikon radish into 0.8-inch wide quarters.
  3. 2. Cut konjac into 0.8-inch cubes. Boil water in a pot over medium heat for about 3 minutes, then drain the water.
  4. 3. Heat sesame oil in a pot over medium heat, add grated garlic and grated ginger, and stir-fry.
  5. 4. When it gets fragrant, add ground pork and stir-fry over medium heat. When ground pork changes color, add Step 1 and Step 2, and stir-fry.
  6. 5. When sesame oil is blended well, add step ingredient (A), cover, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes.
  7. 6. When daikon radish has softened, remove the lid and heat over high heat until the broth has reduced to half.
  8. 7. Remove from heat and place it in a bowl. Sprinkle with young green onion (konegi) and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

Please adjust the amount of chili bean sauce (tobandjan) to your liking. This time we boiled konjac to remove the bitterness, but you can also use it without boiling. *You must be of legal drinking age to consume alcoholic beverages.
