  • Japanese mustard spinach
    300 g
  • Semi-dried young sardines (chirimenjako)
    30 g
  • Roasted white sesame seeds
    1 tbsp
  • Sliced Japanese chili peppers (Takanotsume)
    1 tsp
  • Japanese versatile dashi base (Shiro-dashi)
    1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil
    1 tbsp

How to make

  1. 1. Cut off the base of Japanese mustard spinach and cut into 0.2-inch wide pieces.
  2. 2. Add sesame oil to the heated pan over medium heat and stir-fry Step 1 and sliced Japanese chili peppers (takanotsume).
  3. 3. When Japanese mustard spinach has softened, add dried young sardines, white roasted sesame seeds, and a Japanese versatile dashi base (shiro-dashi) and stir-fry over medium heat for about 1 minute until the flavors have blended. Remove from the heat.
  4. 4. Transfer to a bowl and it's ready to serve.
